Interesting vacation in Spain
A fascinating holiday in Spain is a wonderful pastime. Because of my incredible love for fishing, I have been able to fish in many places around the world.
Happily, I and my two companions ended up on the Mediterranean coast, near the border with Gibraltar. The port town with its original name La Linea is located in a very beautiful location on the Mediterranean coast. Among the strait, a rock rises proudly with the state of Gibraltar on it. Behind a wide beach with sand of a tender yellow color, the town itself spread, gradually crawling on a high hill, which is already a neighboring state. The picture becomes especially magnificent when the sun quickly slips right over the horizon, and the shade of the water of the Atlantic becomes wonderful.

Vacation in Spain
The first few days spent to study the local features of fishing. Every imaginable fish existed in the coastal market of local aborigines. But most of all I was struck by tuna, their backs and belly, carefully laid out on the counter, impressed with their size, and I immediately had a desire to keep such fish on the hook. After a small survey of local fishermen and receiving relevant information, I went to the port to look for the Guru fishing for tuna, which everyone told me about.
Professional tuna catchers
It was not very difficult for me to be at the berth, where thirty-meter professional tuna catcher was stand out with the intriguing name “GRANT DEL MAR.” On the deck, as I immediately realized, the very “jack tar” appeared, and as if waiting for my appearance all this time, he turned to me and, intercepting my look, asked: “Can I help you?” So, the next day, my two friends and I got on a professional fishing boat, in the company of a professional team of fishermen and crew. On board, in addition to us, there were three more non-professional fishermen who, as it turned out later, flew specially for this fishing from Russia, they booked it a couple of months before and just kindly agreed to that, that we would join their group on that day. The boat slowly left the port, and we enjoyed the sea breeze, the noise of the wave overboard and the beautiful landscapes that opened up to our look.
Tuna is fish of prey and vacation in Spain
They prey on smaller fish, feed on various mollusks. Their diet includes anchovies, capelin, sardines, and mackerel. So it became clear. We catch tuna on rove. Thick kapron cord, motorcycle rubber gloves so as not to injure hands and live mackerel on the hook. The team that seemed calm up to this moment was completely transformed. Fishermen were like predators hunting for prey. As the captain later explained to us, professional fishermen call tuna fishing hunting, tuna hunting. They never say fishing. The name of the fish comes from the ancient Greek “thyno”, which means “throw, swoop.” Tuna fish have a rare property – it is able to maintain an increased body temperature, relative to the environment. Thanks to this, tuna can reach a tremendous speed (up to 90 km/h), spend less energy on this. Catching such fish is not easy at all. Suddenly, a shadow flashed in the water – a tuna torpedo, and the cord began to go underwater with great speed.
Unforgettable experiences and vacation in Spain
While I was in stupor for a few seconds, the cord stopped. With shaking hands, I tried to drag a gear. There was a feeling that a multi-ton load was tied to the other end. Just a few moments later, the cord also began to go lightning-fast further under water. I was ready and tried to make a hooking. Nothing helped. It was impossible to at least slow down the cord. It was like pulling a deliberately tied rope. Adrenaline was off the scale. The end of the cord was already close and the fear of missing it together with fish, as well as a sailor running to the noise and splash, helped me. I allowed tuna to pull almost the entire cord, since even in gloves it was difficult to restrain the jerks of fish raging on the hook and the two of us began to bring tuna to the side of the ship.

Vacation in Spain
We managed to bring the predator closer to the board, and then the cord again ruthlessly unwound and went deep to the bottom. As then it turned out, wrestling the fish lasted fifty-five minutes. And here is a powerful lasso rope thrown on the tail of a huge fish, a couple more slick movements of the team and tuna weighing 280 kg on board. To say that everyone was happy was like to say nothing. We have taken with us unforgettable experiences, experience and hope to return to GRANT DEL MAR at least once more.
